I’m not sure how I forgot about this band. After Happy Hollow, I’d put Cursive on the back burner, even managed to get into Tim Kasher’s other band The Good Life. Fuck, Happy Hollow was just so bad. But then, I saw this song performed on Letterman the other night, and I can’t stop listening to it.

Chances are you’ve heard a song by this group and never even knew it. Mazzy Star is probably one of the most underrated bands of the 90s, which is hard to believe because their music is so easily accessible (usually bands can only use the same chord progression so many times, but they get away with it). Talk about beautiful winter music. This entire album is it.

I can almost guarantee that at least one of your favorite bands have cited Neutral Milk Hotel as one of their most influential bands, and with good cause. This album is incredibly lo-fi but one of my favorite albums of all-time. This is my personal favorite track from the album, but I encourage everyone to (legally) download this album. Plus, it’s excellent winter music.
